Sometimes, a browser extension/plugin that is being used by you, may end up interfering with the normal working of Mentis and giving you an error. At times like this, we recommend that you trying using the private mode of your browser, which should generally disable all extensions, and then try again.
If the error does not occur, it was caused by a plugin/extension. You can then go back to the normal mode in your browser and trying after disabling your plugins/extensions one by one. When the problem occurs again, you will have found the offender.
Below are instructions for using private browsing and managing your browser's extensions/plugins.
Using Private Browsing Mode for your browser
Select your browser and follow the steps.
Chrome
- Open the Google Chrome browser.
- Press the Ctrl+Shift+N keys at the same time, or
Click the Customize and control Google Chrome icon present in the upper right-hand corner of the browser window and select New incognito window.
Firefox
- Open the Firefox browser.
- Press the Ctrl+Shift+P keys at the same time, or
Click Menu icon present in the upper right-hand corner of the browser window and select New Private Window.
Microsoft Edge
- Open the Microsoft Edge browser.
- Press the Ctrl+Shift+P keys at the same time.
or Click the More icon present in the upper right-hand corner and select New InPrivate window from the drop-down menu that appears.
Internet Explorer 9 & higher
- Open the Internet Explorer browser.
- Press the Ctrl+Shift+P keys at the same time, or
On the upper right-hand portion of the browser window, click Tools icon
Move the mouse pointer over the Safety drop-down menu and select InPrivate Browsing.
Safari
- Open the Safari browser
- Click on the File menu at the top of the browser window.
- In the File menu, select New Private Window.
Opera
- Open the Opera browser.
- Press the Ctrl+Shift+N keys at the same time, or
Click the Menu button present in the upper left-hand corner of the window and from the drop-down menu, select New private window.
Tip: To exit incognito mode, close the private window and relaunch the browser as you normally would.
Please note: In the Private or Incognito mode, your browsing history is not stored on your computer. However, this does not mean you are anonymous on the Internet. Each page that you visit still recognizes your IP address.
